Theme: Each panel should reflect how the county or city contributes to democracy—past, present, or future. This can include historical events, notable leaders, civic traditions, community organizations, or visions for participatory citizenship.
Creative Freedom: Panels may incorporate any combination of materials (fabric, embroidery, appliqué, paint, collage, etc.) that are durable and suitable for sewing. Artistic diversity is encouraged to reflect the unique character of each community.
Historical Context: Participants should consider local stories, landmarks, or individuals who have advanced democratic principles, such as voting rights, civic inclusion, community service, or advocacy.
Panel Size: Each submission must be 3 feet by 6 feet to ensure uniform assembly.
Labeling: Each panel should include the name of the county or city and, optionally, a brief explanation of its design elements on an attached card.
